Prof. Barnes studies the evolution of habitable planets from a multi-disciplinary perspective, including their orbits, interiors, atmospheres, host star properties, and galactic perturbations. He is the lead developer of the VPLanet software package that couples these processes together. He has published over 100 peer-reviewed articles on stellar and planetary evolution. Prof. Barnes assists the team by interpreting results in terms of planetary system evolution.
